We're here at the local picture out here in Whittier, California. And today we're going to talk to the company owner. Hi, how are you? Good. Good. If you don't mind just introduce yourself quickly. Yeah, my name is Jason and I'm the owner of Local Fixture. We've been here about seven years. Great. And what's a little bit of a background that you have? How did you get started? Yeah. So I'm a resident of Whittier, and we just felt like there was a need for a local gift store where people can find unique gifts. And then a few years after we opened, we also opened up a coffee bar serving specialty coffee. Awesome. And I noticed that coffee bars right here in the corner. Right. Awesome. So what kind of things? Are you guys still in the coffee shop? Yeah. So we actually serve Stumptown Coffee out of Oregon. Just a really high-quality coffee. And then we also do donuts as well. And then the store, we sell a variety of gifts. So we're kind of the community gift store. We sell everything from candles to jewelry to things for kids as well. There's almost always, you know, people can always find something for almost anyone. Right. Do you mind just giving us a little bit of background about yourself? How old are you? What gave you this idea? Yeah, I'm actually about to turn 44 this year, so like I said, I've been running the store for about seven years now, and inspiration really just came from, you know, stores that we would see in Pasadena, Venice, and just wanting to emulate and give this community something similar to those types of stores that sell out there. That's good. And lastly, what was the inspiration behind the name that you gave this location? Yeah, that's a good question, actually. The reason how we came up with the local fixture is interesting is because this building is actually used to be the Edison building. And so when we're trying to just brainstorm on name ideas, you know, obviously we want to do something local. Right. And then when we think about Edison, Thomas Edison, you know, electricity. And then we kind of came up with light fixtures and just the term local fixture being like a local fixture in the community. That's kind of how we came up. That's great. All right, guys. Right now, we're in the Santa Monica mountains. And as you can see behind me, things are very, very dry. So what I've seen so far today is a couple of different big yellow trucks that spray water in the drier areas. But as you can see, they can't get so far deep in there. So there are still a lot of potential fire hazards. So we're going to keep meeting with them and going over the potential fire hazards and how we can help as a community. And also, we're going to be meeting with the city officials to discuss the city insurance policies that are offered by the city and areas where insurers are insuring homes, stay tuned for more information. Hector͏ knows his stuff and is always there along the way! Hector and the entire team at Curiel Homes were great and walked us through every step to help us get the max out of our sale. Any time we had questions he was there to answer them and gave us many tips to help improve the appearance of our home without having to put too much in. Hector helped us with getting our PODS to store excess items before open house so we could be clutter free. The Curiel team went above and beyond with advertisements and getting to word out about our home which helped bring in many potential buyers. He was extremely knowledgeable about the market and how to strategically price our home to compete with others in our area. 10/10 would recommend Hector and the Curiel Homes team to anyone looking to sell or even purchase! To All Buyers: I became a condo owner today and Hector at Curiel Home Team helped get me there. I met Hector about 6 months ago-and he demonstrated such a deep understanding of ALL aspects of real estate; that I couldn’t help but ask him to be my realtor. His ability to break down each stage of the real estate purchase train for you (maybe first timer) and provide answers for each part of the transaction. Also quickly evident was Hector’s knowledge of a home’s construction and any remedial action that may be needed. Don’t go to any open house without this man-because he can quickly suss out a property and it’s value. Couldn’t ask for a more knowledgeable team!

We wouldn’t have gotten our home without having Hector as our agent! His care, knowledge and experience are plain to see. He took the time, showing us several houses until we finally found our dream home. As first time home buyers, we had no experience navigating the Escrow process. He walked us through each step, ensuring we were protected along the way. Hector is amazing! He’s so incredibly knowledgeable and has an amazing understanding of many different types of programs that help people get into houses. This knowledge was critical in helping us get the funding needed to buy our home. He answered our 7 million questions about each little thing (we’re first time home buyers), patiently ensuring we understood each step. He took us to many open houses, helping us to hone in on what it was that we really like and didn’t like. He even encouraged us to look at places we never thought we’d like. We ended up getting out bid on one. So when we finally saw the house that would become our first home, we all had a clear understanding of how to play this crazy game of real estate in Los Angeles. We got an accepted offer! Yay! But let me tell you, the escrow process is crazy stressful but with Hector on our side, guiding us through this process in his calm and confident way, it was made much easier.
